Bety Fernandez founded ADOGTA Foundation after rescuing dogs her whole life. Bett has given up her traditional life as a decorated lawyer, to devote herself to helping re-home deserving dogs on the streets around her. 6 years ago, she began sending the rehabilitated dogs she was collecting to Canada, and has been working on building partnerships across Canada's major cities to send her pups.
Currently, the dogs live in a home she has converted into a shelter. She spends every day and resource she has caring for her dogs, dreaming of a new life for each one. She has anywhere between 40 and 80 dogs at a time. She has picked up each one on the street, treated them, and learned their individual needs and behaviours to put them in the best situation she is able to.
The amount of energy and passion Bety dedicates is exemplary, and she cannot do it without the support of her partners to bring these dogs into their new lives. Thank you for your help and interest!
A word from the ever-passionate founder, Bety.
"Hello everyone, I am Bety Fernandez.
I am an independent rescuer in Puebla, Mexico, a city with more than 5 million street dogs.
Every day I have to live with my heart broken seeing cruelty, and humans turning a blind eye when they see dog in need
Every day, I rescue dogs with the means I have--street dogs in the worst conditions of cruelty, illness, injury, pregnant females and mothers with puppies.
I currently have around 50 dogs living with me as I do not have shelter. I care for them, socialize them, and look after their medical ailments. My dream is to have these dogs all find loving new homes in Canada.
I have been rescuing dogs my whole life , but 6 years ago I started to send dogs to Canada. Currently I have 3 partners in Toronto, 1 partner in Vancouver and 1 partner in Calgary. They make my dreams come true, receiving my dogs to find them a furever home!"
